Hello everyone, I am from Houston, Texas where there are only 10-15 AE86's running around I beleive. About to get my 2nd AE86 so I thought I'd register for all my questions unanswered. Plus theres alot of cool fellow AE86 owners here Thumbs up!

I've owned a AE86 before, but it was badly beaten by previous owners... I bought it not knowing this and I ended up having one problem after another. It taught me alot about engines. The 4AC simplicity made it easy for make mistakes and quickly find them and learn. But now I just bought one from the original owner and it is in superb condition with low miles and no racing. I will post pics once I get it. I cant wait to finally have a reliable AE86 and just drive and enjoy it. It will get full treatment to dealership parts and regular maintence.


Oh since your going to ask its a 1986 Corolla SR5 Coupe.

Which of the cars is yours? And are both cars SR5s? Dumb question

None are mine in the picture unfortunatly. But my last one was a panda hatch. Oh and my last was a SR5 and so is my current. I <3 SR5. I don't get over 55mph and I do not race, the car is for pure enjoyment of curves during daily use, having something diffrent *Another reason for no GT-S swap plans*, good mpg, easy to work on w/plentiful 4ac parts. I will not lie, I own a 1985 CRX Si (Hardest CRX to find that was shiped to the USA), 1986 CRX, 1987 CRX Si. They are all fantastic little cars with great handling, great mpg (my 86 is tuned to get 44-48mpg avg)..... but they lack rwd and pop up headlights. The Miata is the only thing that comes close IMO as far as handling in stock form. But the Miata is very small and "Cute". The AE86 is a underated sports car in sheeps clothing, good handling, rwd, and styling that appeals to me.Plus it has room for friends and my fishing tackle. I remember back when I was 14 and ebay had just come out and I saw a GT-S sell for 1200 in very good condition. But with the GT-S you get a more fuel thirsty twin cam motor, sunroof (i wouldnt mind but it reduces the headroom), and a higher ratio rearend which kills the gas milage. I am still wanting to learn more about these becoming more hard to find cars.

also is the fender antenna mount a hatchie only thing? I really like that feature and I want to make my coupe have that heh.

I guess for fuel economy the SR5 is a good choice but I do think the GTS aint that bad either on fuel economy, I've owned much thistier sports carsSmile

44-48 mpg? That's a bit too efficient. :o
I hardly got 16km/l driving my mitsubishi on a long highway cruise, and 44mpg would be 18km/l so that's insanely efficient. Confused
About fuel efficiency: I hardly get 13km/l out of my 4age when driving fuel efficient as possible, but mostly its just around 12km/l. Undecided

About the sunroof: my ex-SR5 features a factory-sunroof, so they were available. Wink
Before you are going to ask: no I don't know how the SR5 is supposed to drive (and how fuel efficient it is) since it already featured a 4AGE swap when I bought it. Smile

I drove a fully modded 4AGE with 132whp for a while and it felt awsome, I then drove a fully stock 4AGE and it felt like a harder pulling 4AC, its not much diffrence until you get over 4k RPM, thats when you really feel the diffrence in the heads. There is a guy in Houston that has a 4AC with dyno sheets, 118WHP 4AC. The sidedraft carbs are the only thing that really gives it away. My last 4ac was built with higher compression, 4ag bottom end, and it ran with my friends 3tc 73 rolla nicely. In all reality here in US you need a car that will get to 60 in under 20 seconds and will cruise at 60-70mph, nothing more or you'll get into trouble. So why not buy a car without alot of power, thats easy to work on and benifit from being diffrent, rwd, good mpg, when you dont need a beast.

that hatchie had been threw 2 or 3 initial d wanna be owners which beat the living daylights out of it, put some jb weld on the problems and beat it again.

You must understand that 98 percent of the hachis in Europe are equipped with a 4AGE, so we have little knowledge of what those engines are capabele of. Most of us are biased ofcourse. Wink

Which hachi are you talking about? The one you used to own, or the new one?
