Apparantly Mitsubishi Starion/ Dodge Conquest brake booster fits into the ae86 mouting holes...
This is not confirmed by ME. So it is only something that I have heard. But I have heard people using it after they had upgraded their brakes to multipiston in the front, to make it work... ![]() Always remember: Rev it till it blows, then back off a bit... What about Celica 5 gen. 2.0 GT Master cilinder !?
AE82 has identical brake discs and calipers as Celica 5. gen. 2.0 GT, so I supose that Master brake cilinder is the same. Toyota scrap yard car park = AE92GTi - AE82GT - KE30 - KP62 |

Wont that make the brakes really hard (no vaccuum assist)?
It does make it very easy to change the brake balance. I'm not too sure if changing the brake master cilinder to a bigger one is an upgrade at all. Need to find that article on brake systems again...that explained exactly how every part in the brakesystem interacts. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Increasing the piston diameter of the BMC you will increase the force applied to callipers.
On the brake pedal the difference is only reduced pedal travel. |

That is where you are mistaken. Increasing the master cilinder diameter will lower your line pressures, so you'll need to push the pedal harder to make up for the difference. Since you can have better pedal feel with more resistance from the brake pedal it might feel like an improvement because you can modulate the braking force better, but it's not an upgrade. The formula for line pressure is P=F/A, where P is pressure F is force and A is area. The force exerted on the brakepads follows the same formula where F=P*A. So you see that you will have to apply more force to get the same result.
I do think it might be a worthwile thing to do to get that pedal to feel a bit less sloppy, but it wont make the car stop faster if that's what you think. We have an excelent thread on brake tech, you can find it here: http://www.aeu86.org/viewtopic.php?t=388...c&start=25 should be a sticky... FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

I don't know why but my brake pedal is hard as can be. Whil all the other hachi's don't have that type of stiffness in the pedal!

Ivan, the brake thread is in the FAQ if I am not mistaken. Almost 80% of the threads in this forum could be a sticky, doesn't make it more readable
