What brakes are you using ?

I have on my car standard disc and mintex 1144,
but i can run the brakes so hot after only 3 hard slowdown in traffic,and i´m going to a tracday in Sweden on the 16/17-6 ,and the OE brakes are really really weak.

So i would like to know What brakes are you using and what you would recommend

I have the OEM calipers
and disks but they are cross drilled
and I use Mintex brakepads and Goodridge brake lines.

Someone told me that you can fit the ones from
2.0 litres Celica (same years).

At the moment I have additional set of front struts and I made some experiments.
The Honda Prelude 2.0i 16V '83-'92 front discs are promising (265mm), combined with old BMW E23 728i calipers (4pot). Old Volvos are suited with 4-pot front calipers too.
Toyota Corolla Verso '2002+, Fiat Croma 2.0 turbo, VW Golf II GT/GTi/G60 fronts - ~280mm, the Citroen BX 1.4 fronts (to fit as rears in AE86) - 260+mm.
All these need to be redrilled. Nissan Primera and Mitsubishi Galant rear disc can fit as rears in AE86 also - 258-266mm with correct PCD (no redrilling)! If you go extreme - you can use front vented ones from these Nissans and Mitsubishis - with front calipers and hydraulic e-brake.

Note: It's highly recommended that you use adjustable brake bias valve (Willwood-$45).

Okay ,

So you all change the calipers and disc to some others,
I will this weekend i will make two 100mm hols in the frontbumber and run some hoses to the brakes,to see if this will help,but i think i will have to make some bigger brakes,to fit.

There are lots of Mercedes brakes around 280-320mm ,so i think i will adapt some of thoose.

The setups You run ,Is it working ,or can you still run them hot?

Is there any brake combination (especially for the front)
that will fit the AE in an EASY way? (like bolt on or something?)

1. Before doing big-brake upgrade, use good brake pads and fluid - this will help. Cooling ia good ideia too.
2. Mercedes uses mainly 5-bolt PCD :-( Try to stick with 4-bolt patterns, they are easy to redrill !
3. I made my fitment tests yesterday (huh! :-))) and all these things are not road tested - and will not be tested very soon (waiting fresh paint to my car).

I think - no. You will need at least adapter plates for calipers.
Most interesting is BMW calipers + VW G60 front discs combination (I test-fitted MA61 14" rims and they are good up to 280mm discs !!!).

PS: I made all my tests with old brake discs - I have no extra money to buy all these just to test
PPS: All discs for the front must be redrilled (AFAIK - 4X85mm is the correct bolt pattern).

I'm currently thinking about ordering some brakes here:

They have a set front and back for 125 dollars. After shipping and tax I'll prolly be 200 dollars less rich. Not to bad for crossdrilled rotors

They have axxis pads that might be nice but I am thinking of going mintex, anybody have a good address for ordering mintex pads in EU?

I already run mintex 1144,and ATE blue racing brakefluid,
and that dosen´t help much over OE.
I think it´s possible to redrill the MB brakes(i can get them really cheap)

Do you know how big the center hole is on the OE disc?
