What cams
For a largeport 16v on Webers ?
I have an underbucket shim kit so lift is not really an issue. Sound and looks are not important either ! An analogue brain in a digital World |

what size carbs?
i would say, 256 intake w/ a 264 exhaust and 7.5-8.0 lift on a stock large port. you can go bigger, but is your largport ported, stock bottom end, larger valves, ect. details my friend. te72 wagon ae86 levin coupe project |

catcams has a good combo. With a ported head and standard intake it took me to 133 rwhp.
If you already have underbucket shims I would take it to the next lvl and step up to 10mm lift. The cams that I have a 8.5 and 9 mm on standard shims Cars: "99 Lexus IS200 "86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project) "84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer) Motorcycles: "02 Yamaha R1 "02 Honda Hornet S "08 BMW R1200GS |

What about retainers, can I use the stock ones ? Thanks An analogue brain in a digital World |

If you wan't to go big, you need to raise your compression ratio.

Depends on what you want. Because you have good buckets you can go for some awesome lift.

With anything above 8.0mm-8.1mm lift you will definatley need better springs, anything over what i have mentioned and the stock spring will bind up, very not good.
Toda and TRD make good springs. Not all that expensive either. Just as a general rule too, the more wild the cam the more compression you will need to make the most out of the cams. Steve.....this is sparrrrrtan |
