What is the cylinder head x engine block torque specifcation
Hello,
I need to know what is the torque specification for the bolts from cylinder head x engine block. I think it's 30 N.m more 90º and more 90º... Keeping the AE86 alive! |

It's on page EM-117 of my 4AGE manual, but perhaps you can find it here as well: http://files.aeu86.org/manuals/4A-GEManual.pdf 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

What is the cylinder head x engine block torque specifcation
That's strange banpei...
I have a RM from the 4AFE and 4AGE engine (for the Celica, Carina and Corolla i think) and it says that the torque is 30 N.m, then 90º and then another 90º. Very strange i think... I ask because my engine is loosing water between the cylinder head and engine block immediately after start. Keeping the AE86 alive! |

Ah, I see my error...
Looked at the wrong head: info I gave you are for the 8-valve head. Correct value would be 300kg/cm (22 ft/lb, 29 N.m) if you look at page EM-117 in the manual. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

OR... if you have an olde manual you will note the head to block torque is 44#s. Btw... the head bolts NEVER changed part numbers... so new ones are not TTY. I used 44#s when I built my engine 5 years ago.... no head gasket or overheating issues.
I believe.... the new spec is cause there were too many STUPID techs who didn't think to do the head bolts in 3 passes(25, 35, 44). The new spec pretty much requires them to do it in 3 passes.......... Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |

Well, but it's tough to make the 3rd pass (last 90º).
