Which Daihatsu parts are compatible?

There is a pair of new cheap charmant front shocks for sale on marktplaats here in holland at the moment...35 euro's. Might be a nice buy if someone here has worn out shocks.\ :wink:

my front shocks are a dissaster.. are those the same as ae86's? how much would be the shipping costs to slovenia?

I have no idea...but these are Gabriel shocks...if shipping is expensive it might not be worth the effort. I'll see if I can find out.
Maybe someone can tell us if the shocks are the same? They look about right but I'm really not sure.

yes they are the charmant carries the same exact strut casing,i have them on so i can get my originals shortened and still drive around

Hmm...shipping is around 21 to 26 euro's depending on wether the package stays under 5kg's or not. If you're still interested I could contact the seller. But you might want to consider other inexpensive options (KYB GR-2 / Tokico HP) that probably perform better.

the manual and power steering racks are the same,yesterday i had to go to the daihatsu dealers to get a gromit for my steering since our toyota dealer didnt have it and it was cheaper too,the brakes are the same as my sr (i have solid disc),the control arms,basically the whole suspension setup is the same as my sr but im not sure about the front sway bar,i have on the rear charmant shocks, ae86 front shocks in the charmant struts (all have the same toyota markings) and they dont carry rear sway bars

how about the rear end? What kind of axle is under those things? Might be a possible source for ring and pinions...

i would try and see about that cause i know for sure the dont carry rear sway bars and the earlier models had leaf springs,but for the size of the rear end it may be the same as the sr which i think is 6.3 and not the gts which is 6.7 but im not too sure i only know that the gts carry 10 bolts to hold the diff housing so thats all i have to go on,but i found out that the rear end on a carina cant remember which model is a 10 bolt 6.7 like the gts and can hold a zenki lsd but will have to get the sway bar brackets welded on

The old 70's carina rear-end is the same as the celica's (they share the same chassis I think)..My brother has one of those celica axles lying in the basement (with LSD!). It has the exact same diff as an AE86..
Those charmant's about as rare as ae86's over here, but I was thinking that maybe the daihatsu dealers have a more friendly price tag on these old parts.. I mean toyota asks 600 euro's for a ring and pinion set over here, that is totally overpriced.
