Who wants to let me drive their AE86 on the Nurburgring?
ahh thanks guys.. i knew it was a massive request! id be apprehensive if it was me too! ah well i can dream..

for the record i meant 100eu just for the trouble..... petrol + toll fees ill pay of course!

by no means i dont wanna drive fast, just go around there at 40-60 mph a few times.. mostly to say i drove the ring an an ae86! Thumbs up!

hehe ah well

but if not an ae86, does anyone have a good suggestion for a 100eu-200eu car to rent? or a ring taxi passenger ride even? im going to be in Koln on 23rd july (yes 1 day after formula one...) and i REALLLLY wanna drive the ring in any way i can!

NoHachi Wrote:But its not my intention to shoot down any plans. The ring is certainly worth a visit. As a more serious alternative to hachi rental, consider the following:
http://www.rent-racecar.de/englisch/prices/
More or less stock vehicles, with slightly uprated shocks and decent brake systems. 5 laps of the ring in a BMW 318ti will cost you 190E, less fuel. Count on using up close to a tank of gas during those 5 laps.
Still, if something happens and you crash, you are directly liable for all damages to both the track and car. No insurance possible as far as I know.
it was the second post on the topic

Argh, don't know then... I remember reading something about rental, but there's a good chance it was the same thing NoHachi posted...
Look around... actually there's a good chance you could contact the track support e-mail and ask them for details... no guerantee it's going to be the most affordable option, but i'm fairly certain they'd have something there...

Garth, there are always plenty of people around the nurburgring that don't mind someone asking for a passenger lap. You wont be driving yourself but it can be fun. Biggest problem is judging who to drive with, there is always a risk that that person will crash.

I heard a story once that someone got in a car with someone else, crashed, and then sued the guy because he hadn't made it clear enough that it was dangerous to drive on the nurburgring... Uhm right....

Do not, I repeat, do not hire an ordinary rental car for the ring. Every (or almost every) company excludes the ring. Some cars have GPS trackers and they also have dedicated spotters around the ring that look out for rentals. Renting a car used to be a popular sport amongst the british, who also took the trouble to crash some cars. Several lawsuits still going on as we speak.

Ringtaxi is a lot of money and probably already booked solid for that period. Paxlaps aren't a real problem at the ring, just browse around some ring-dedicated websites and make sure you get in the car with a veteran.

@the rest: While they may claim that the ring is a public road, every sane person knows that insurance companies can claim that you were participating in a time trial, race or driving recklessly (particularly that last one is a nice catch22). Especially if you were stupid enough to crash. Evolve was VERY lucky that the damage was just 1200E (which is almost nothing), If he had grabbed a few extra meters of triple armco's our friend here would have been on a life long repayment plan. Such is the risk at the nurburgring. I know plenty of people that have had to pay the damage from their own pockets, most of them had it available on their bankaccounts and accepted the risks.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

How can you say i'm lucky? You don't know what happend so don't judge.

Like i said, i've paid for a piece that wasn't even damaged by myself.
It could be that that i didn't damaged anything, its a weird long story but let's say i've signed so i'm screwed.

And 'touristdriving' is open road like i said allready, you can get an confirmation of that from Nurenburgring itself to convince youre insurance.
Its only a one time opportunity, second or third time something happens the insurance will kick you out. (depending on the damagecost offcourse).
