a514mcl uk gt coupe rebuild
ok after putting it of for this last year i have finally decided its time for a major overhaul of my coupe. after long decisions ive decided to do her the 8c4 coulour it is at the minute as to the origional colour of 8a9 as i like the colour and it is something different and unique to the car.
everyone know that this car i special to me as it was my first coupe and thats why i want it mint. i also am going for the 84 spec look as much as i can and depending on the parts that i can get first of all the stripping down it takes alot of time getting everything bagged and labled but believe me its worth it when its time to build back up! |

Got the engine bay painted really happy with the finish even tho its a bit too shiney but hopefully it will dull down a bit.
decided to build it up and build underneath before the exterior gets painted as when finished i dont want to be pawing about with wireing looms and brake fluid ect.. |

nice to see first layer of primer on, while amount of rubbing down done and all by hand, i think ya can feel for dents better when ya do it all by hand. another layer of primer afer this one is rubbed sown again and she should be ready for the top coat.
friggin arms are broke. got a red pass door and bootlid so it will have to be rubbed to the primer aswell incase of stone chips showing trough again. got really good hinges today thanks to fatman sending the car away for painting so i think ill leave all panels off and carefully fit them when all is painted. |

drivers door and wings now rubbed down and undercoated had to fill the holes on the wings as they were 86 ones and now im going with no arch mouldings.
all the underbody parts arrived back from sandblasting today so wanted to get the undercoated be for rust apperared! sandblasting cost 50pound that was very reasonable i thought next is get the other panels in primer and the underbody parts in gloss black and get the car back on her wheels with all panels fitted ready for final coat of blue |

small update, thing have been slow this past 2 weeks due to working again and flu and that but getting small bits done now and again.
fitted all panels and took 2nites to get gaps all 100% before paint goes on. then removed the doors and bootlid to spray the insides of them as the spray man says the more i do the less he will charge. he is going to spray the outside of the doors off so its up to him he knows what hes at so who am i to argue with him. also he wanted me to basecoat the back edge of the roof so as he is spraying the bootlid on the car so its sometimes hard to get at. took a few pictures of the underneath and engine bay as she sits now used sierra steering rack boots a bit cheaper than toyota and do the same job. |
