adjustable fuel pressure regulator on stock 4AGE
Hey,
I just got a used Malpassi fuel pressure regulator with vacuum port and I was wondering if my relatively stock MAP 4AGE (cold air intake, exhaust, higher comp) will benefit from an adjustable regulator?

Anybody tried one before an could share some expirience?
How much pressure does the stock 4AGE run anyway?

It will only benefit from increasing the fuel pressure if you have not tuned for the mods you have made. Its a terrible way to tune by the way, but will get your closer to where you need to be.

Will burn more fuel, maybe gain something in highest revs.
Not recommended.

Put it on Smile You can try a pressure a few psi more than stock (38-44 psi
with atmospheric pressure in manifold = FP test plug jumped, engine not
running). Could make a little bit more power, and if not, you can always
wind it back down to the stock pressure.

Remember... more shiney things under the hood = more street cred :-P

Except you have no idea if it makes any more power or not when doing that change unless on a dyno, and the differences in power would be in the fractions of a HP either way unless its already so rich or so lean...

Lol, everybody know´s that fpr´s gain at least 10- 15 visual effect hp, depending on whether you use brainded or rubber fuel lines. Cool

Ok, unfortunatly that´s what I expected, I guess I´ll leave it for now and wait until it´s time for new cams and a propper mapping.

Thanks Smile

actually...... I PREFER no vacuum pulloff on my fpr... just spring pressure set to 40 psi.

The reason... During cruise driving, the ignition map tends to be running high advance(for economy) and with part throttle, there can also be a high vacuum. High vacuum on the FPR, and significant ignition advance can lead to running lean, and causing pre-igniton(ping) while at part throttle.
