blown turbo?

Hi all I have a AE86 turbo corolla I decided to start up my car today (hadn't started it for a couple of days) and noticed smoke coming out of the exhaust opened the bonnet and saw oil dripping down out of the turbo elbow so i switched it off and took the air filter off and checked the shaft for play but there was no play dont know what it could be can anyone help me out

Did you check both side to side and in/out play? Sure sounds like shot turbo seals.

Other things to look out for are clogged or cinched oil return lines. If its a ball bearing turbo, it might have leaky seals but good bearings and no play.

If all else fails, then check for leaky valve seals..though i doubt thats the problem.

cheers mate I am going to take the turbo out tomorrow and see what's up I have asked a lot of people and they all saying its the oil seals I hope it don't cost too much

Check your Cooler piping for oil.
Check both sides of the turbo for play.
