clutch problem
Interesting thread When I installed TRD hard rubber bushings in
the rear suspension linkages, there was immediately some increase in noise and vibration inside the car. It seems (as could be expected) that the harder bushings transmit more noise and vibration from the rear axle into the steel of the body. The body acts an amplifier for the noise... It appeared as so the noise was coming from the area of the gearbox and clutch, and because of a quite different problem, I did fit a new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. However, it was not until I had the rear axle overhauled (new pinion bearings and new wheel bearings) that the noise disappeared. I believe it was probably the pinion bearings that caused the noise. Now there is only a small amount more vibration than I had before with the OEM rubber bushes. It is an acceptable tradeoff for better handling Hard urethane bushings and spherical bearings can be expected to transmit even more noise and vibration than TRD rubber bushings Cheers... jondee86 |

clutch problem
Hello, Jondee86,
your explanation makes sence!!! I also changed to urethane bushing kit together with clutch and flywheel. Car susp feels much harder with new bushes. Thank you for your hint!!! I will check and change rear axle bearings. Integra Type R vs AE86 Levin |

Pinion bearings = differential input bearings.

clutch problem
was this problem ever resolved? The reason I ask is because I am about to change my pilot bearing tomorrow and it occured to me this could be the cause that you're speaking about, but then I get the vibration at clutch biting point from stand still.
