cold air intake
I'm searching for a good looking and functional COLD air intake.
Do you guys have any options (pictures/links), kristian has a good looking twin intake...( ). I got some options from a shop: Injen, Apexi or HKS. They gave me a quote for Injen.... 349 euroooooooos.... |

cold air intake
Toy,
I got an open air K&N filter mounted up to the original plastic pipe that goes to the stock airbox. Only thing to make it a proper CAI is to build a box around it and get cold air fed to it from somewhere. On rx7club there are alot of threads about people making their own CAI for the RX7 with great success, it really isn't very hard when you're a bit handy in cutting steel plating.. I may do one some day... Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Injen is worthless on a euro spec AE86 (except swiss cars).
It's made to fit an AFM box, and our MAP sensored cars dont have one. Dont bother with cold air intakes, they dont give any worthwile power gain, and even the injen one is only some tubes and a filter (nothing special to get cold air). Just get yourself a nice bent intake pipe and fit a good filter on it. Cold air intakes are (along with many other popular tuning items) mostly poser stuff. Pretty worthless in practice. Want the engine to get cooler air?-> make a dropvent in your bonnet so the hot air gets out of the engine bay faster, but I still doubt it will make the car any faster. If your looking for more power save your money for bigger investments cause you dont get there with filters/exhausts. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Oke, injen is crap, but I like the looks under the bonnet too...
So the best option would be something of a pipe (polished for the look) and then to the airbox, and then to the bumper? I know it isn't for the power. But I have now crappy plastic pipes with tape around for hiding some holes..... So I think I welt myself a aluminium pipe. |

Just get a pipe to an airfilter and dont bother with one going to the bumper.
