cost of shipping from the US
hey ppl,
I have a delicate "problem". One e-shop started to offer the prothane bushing kit for ae86 for circa 180 usd. T3 offers the kit for 125. So I was wondering, how much would the shipping cost to EU? 86ers.org AE86 x GXE10 |

Go to http://www.usps.com that is the web site for the United States Postal Service. You can check the cost on international shipping for any weight, to any destination, by any service type. "Parcel Post" is the cheapest and slowest ground shipping choice. Global Priority Mail is sometimes not a lot more expensive but a lot faster. You'll see all the options listed.
If you use the mail, there is usually no customs brokerage charge or delay. If you ship via UPS (United Parcel) or Fedex (Federal Express) those are the main private services in the US (DHL only recently has come back into our market) you will often have to pay a private customs brokerage service fee in your country as well. And then of course there are import duties, you'll need to research those. Be creative about categories for imports, sometimes the same goods can come in duty-free, or highly tariffed, just depending on how you class them. Expect that some vendors will charge you an extra fee if you want them to handle customs and export forms for small orders. Original owner, 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S in the US of A. Max, the USPS.COM (and UPS.COM) sites will compute postage costs including options for insurance, tracking, and everything else they offer.
Packaging costs are optional with the vendor, and if a vendor charges "shipping and handling" i.e. is charging you inflated shipping rates to hide a handling fee, then of course you have to check with the vendor. If the vendor really has got their act together, they can give you the overseas shipping quotes in a minute anyway, no matter how they charge them. Sometimes the paperwork really is a burden and they'll charge a couple of bucks extra for it. But even without all that... the two web sites will at least tell anyone how much the actual *shipping* charges will be, outside of anything else the merchant wants. Heard anything about club4ag? They still in limbo? Original owner, 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S in the US of A. Will trade for a Cadillac-Gage V150 or a Ford GT44. |
