dash lights problem
Just shortcut it.
You can do this at the back of the rheostat or by shortcutting pins 1 and 9 in the plug on the diagram shown above by Banpei. I guess that plug must be somewhere close to the light switch (yes light switch not rheostat switch). |

dash lights problem
just a question. Have you checked your rear running lights? if they are out replace them... they may fix your dashlight problem. Thats what i did on my protege, integra, civic, and my father's ford ranger. The dash lights went out and i was like WTF m8. Then i noticed my rear running lights were out. Replaced them and fixed the problem.

I some of the lights work it's probably not the rheostat, if that would fail none of the lights would work. I guess the rheostat works for the rev counter lights, right?

dash lights problem
Ivan141 Wrote:EE80 has it right on the money. Your rheostat (potentiometer whatever) is faulty, just fixed this on my car by taking the wire out of the connector and shorting it to the nearest groundwire I could find (on some un-used connector behind the dash cover). This way your backlights will work at full intensity, without adjustability. I'll be trying to fix mine once I put my spare switch in. could you tell me which wire exactly you grounded..?? the rheostat on my switch is kaput...the casing is cracked and the contacts / springs cant do their job.. Id like to have a temporary solution until i get a new switch installed.. |

got sorted, read on another thread... short out pin numbers 1 and 9 and you get the lights to remain on constant...bypassing the rheostat function
