electric water pump??
Had anyone considered going electric ?
Do some modification on water pump housing and instead of thermostat put electric water pump ? It consumes less HP and cools more efficiently since flow/rpm is constant. Any thoughts ? |

electric water pump??
"It consumes less HP" being electric it puts more load on the alternator which puts more load on the engine. so still consumes HP

electric water pump??
The main advantage of an electric water pump is the constant flow.
For me the original pump is good enough to don't require this. |

electric water pump??
JGeorge, it would be great if you could get basic info before arguing .
Electric water does cost less energy and offers constant flow. Stock pumps are designed to offer best flow and efficency at everyday use, thats 2000-4000 rpm. at high rpm flow is too big, water runs too fast for radiator to cool it down, and on top of it costs 5-10% of power. Last advantage is that you can run water too cool engine even when engine is off. electric is definetly way to go for 4age that spend most of it life at high rpm and wot. |

I'm not saying not to use them or that they are bad just that they still put a decent load on the engine by increasing the load on the alternater.
I agree with the having better control over flow which is very important. I have worked on a race car which was running two electric water pumps the alt had to be upgraded to handle the extra load. |

electric water pump??
I have though about electric waterpump, but I think this will be too unreliable. If it leak just a little bit, the electric motor will stop and the engine will overheat. But, if you manage to find a really quality product, not a cheap china made one found on Ebay, this might be a worth of try.
