goodridge SS brake lines fitting doubts
i bought the 6 line set from goodridge assuming that it was 5 lines for the brake system and 1 for the clutch.I was wrong and now im missing the line that connects the rear axle to the chassis, but that is of later concern.
The rear lines seem to fit, although i am not a big fan of the double chamfered connectors of the ss lines. In my opinion they should be an exact copy of the oem ones. This option is probably cheaper for goodrigde. The front ones also seem to fit, my only big concern is that the connection where the 2 goodridge cables connect with each other are chamfered the same way.Im not an brake line expert but my logical thought tells me this will never seal, and if they seal they wil barely. Am i missing something, is there something wrong with this set, am i putting them together in a wrong way?If this is meant to be this way i have more faith in the original brake lines.I also have a HEL set lying around here, fittings don't look like original as well. i have them on my 1986 rolla. Works fine but I also had the one from the rear axle to the chassis. The front should seal off but the only way to know is to try it

Have hade the same problem before with a goodridge AE86 set, were you connect the 2 front line together. Eended up machining the the one brakeline that screws in to a 60° taper (female) to make sure it seals. Never had any problems.

Never had any problems. that sounds like an assuring option, i can let them machined at my work.still i think it is a very odd construction by goodridge to produce them this way. That kit looks like it is for ae82/fwd. The ae86 one ends in 7p. Not 6p.
Buy the late model/kouki 5 line set. STY0451-5P, that way no split front lines. Andrew |

Like I said, all I had to do was the taper, the rest fitted perfect in an AE86. 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

the package clearly says ae86 right?
i am having some mail contact with goodridge now but it looks like they are evading clear answers.been sending mails up and down for a few days. Im gonna get this one tapered like fax says, but i want goodridge to admit that what they manufactured is wrong. How would this set fit on an ae82? the point were the 2 front brake lines meet doesn't change right? so you would still have a problem. Buying another set? if i buy something from a renowned brand and it is suited for the car it was designed for it should just fit, or else it should be fixed. Real men race downhill |

Goodridge have a shop in Delft (or at least they had many moons ago when I had my lines made). They should be able to straighten things out for you, but perhaps you're already in contact with them.
