Roll Cage
I have a similar question. Should i use 4 point harness without the cage? In case of a standard safety belt, if you roll and the roof gets squished, you have room for lateral movement, so you could be pushed aside.. but im afraid that woth 4 point, your body will be just fixed in upright position, and if the roof gets squished, your head gets squished.. Confused

That might be a problem... But they do also keep your body in your seat instead of flying through the car...But in 4 point harnesses and a frontal accident you get submarining. So 5-6 points would be better again...but less comfy..

Conclusion: roll over accidents are a serious hazard to your health. You really shouldn't be risking one by driving like a pillock on the street and on the track you are better of with a full cage etc.

PS: a rear roll bar "might" be an option for a street car. As long as you can keep it a LONG way from your coconut. Not sure how all the popular ones are constructed.

I'm gonna look up how to make a roll bar then as opposed to a full cage, I'm sure that would be easier.

Thank you nohachi Tongue

Roll Cage
This sort of hidden rolcage that Apolan mentioned is used by RUF to stiffen Porsche chassis and hide it under interior trim.

Just like the Cusco ones right?
The cusco ones cant even pass any regulations, they are just for rigidity.

Dumb IMO. If I put in a cage, I want to not die with it in my car.

Not quite like cusco.. Cusco has eyelet style swivel connections troughout the cage. None of the tubes are connected by rigid joints. So you don't gain as much rigidity as you could have.
Cusco cages might make the car a little bit safer. Depends on if they hold out during a crash. All the forces of the crash have to pass through those single bolts (at least they are all in double shear).
From a purely physical standpoint, Cusco cages are about the worst that you can find. Lotsa bends in the main tubes, very narrow tubing and hinging connections. Maybe they work, maybe they don't, but they start out in life a little bit handicapped. I think its done to keep the cage cheap. No difficult fishmouth cutouts are needed and all the welding is limited to some weld on tabs.
