how to add power to AE86
[list:d22a5402d9]cheap = good cams, headgasket, home made exhaust, MS-I v2.2 ~600€ if you shop around even less & lots of work (but that's probably a no go as you wouldn't need to ask the question in the first place)
future proof = rebuild + the sky is the limit.[/list:u:d22a5402d9] for a more elaborate answer we/I would need to know what you intend to use the car for? In most cases the money is better spent on bushings etc than the engine. AE86 ex-daily |

how to add power to AE86
Maybe it is more about how these different engines make their power ?
A big port with 272 cams is likely to come close to a blacktop 20v for top-end power but the blacktop with vvt will be much better low down and it will probably make more torque everywhere. An analogue brain in a digital World |

how to add power to AE86
lifebeginsat8000rpm Wrote:Hi guys, Before we begin... lets make sure all the numbers are correct.... the AE86 powered by the 4AGE came in 2 different mechanical configurations 9.4 to 1 (112-115hp), and the 10 to 1 (I've never seen an "official" hp listing for this engine, but I'll assume it is 125) ALL of these numbers are measured @ the crankshaft... not @ the wheels. Assuming you have the 125bhp engine(10 to 1 compression pistons)... A properly ported head, with shaved, deshrouded chamber volume of 34cc, radius back cut valves, with a proper 3 angle valve job, Web 294 grind (their equivalent to 256 type)camshafts, adjustable timing pulleys, and a decent 4/2/1 header. The above modifications should get you comfortably into the 145-155 crank hp, or 120-130 wheel hp, running stock engine management. Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!!
