nmwisima's '96 Miata
Ok, I have a small problem:
I meassured consumption and it was really huge!! Just to remind you, 1996 1.600cc Stock Miata, just 900 kg's. First meassurement: 16,3 litres per 100 km Second m: 15,1 litres per 100 km Thats really too much so I began to think there is a problem... I though that if the engine burned 16,3 litres it could never pass MOT so I went to a specialty store. Everything was found fine ![]() All meassurements are normal... Then I took one more today at 13,4 litres per 100 km. Dont know whats going on. Any ideas?? danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the end ![]() |

heavy right-foot??..just kidding offcourse. What did the specialty store check? My moms car has a similar problem these days..it gets much worse fuel consumption than it did before and the garage finds nothing wrong with it.

Well Ivan,
I put that long thing in the exhaust and checked carbon oxides and other similar thing (dont know the exact words) Most of the comsumptions I meassured were in Town with Open Roof. Still the first 2 meassures are too much. The last one is a bit normal, 13,4 and it was again with open roof and in town but @ much bigger and faster roads... Yes I have a heavy right foot ![]() Once I achieved an unbelievable 15,8 l/100 km with a 998cc Cuore ![]() What I m gonna do is keed driving and take some more meassurments to see how it goes... danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the end ![]() |

Uhm, what gear do you drive in through town? I have this pimped-up-Sierra near my home which always drives in first through the neighborhood. I can imaging him having such fuel consumptions.

Mine used to drink heavily as well. On highways its no problem, but they are horrible around town..I would be lucky to get 1:10 on average.....Good thing is though, they are so rich that you can slap a turbo on there with no trouble. 6psi on stock fueling i believe.
