ok,tough questions
As some of you may know, my EightSix has a 4agze on it. http://www.aeu86.org/download.php?id=897
1st Question: The car has no thermostat n i d like to install one. I was told I could use one from a Renault 5. In this forum I was told I could use a LADA one. http://www.aeu86.org/download.php?id=895 I need a radiator hose with a thermostat in it, fitting both engine and radiator... Any ideas???????????????? 2nd Question: A friend of mine has a spare 4age Oil cooler radiator. Can this in some way be used with the 4agZe? Anyone doone this??? danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the endhttp://www.jdmbits.com |

1st...post some pics of your engine and waterpump, if you have the rear waterpump housing of an original ae86 4age (which is not unlikely) then you can simply put a thermostat in there, otherwise just find an inline thermostat housing that fits your enginebay and place it in the watertube leading from radiator to waterpump. Be carefull though, the stock cooling system has a bypass for coolant flow around the thermostat, I think you'll need to have such a bypass in place if you want to use a thermostat.
AE92 and AE82 use remote thermostat housings, they are clunky but have connections for water in/out and bypass. 2nd To use an oil cooler you need to have the sandwich plate that sits under the oilfilter, it has a nozzle on the underside, where the oil feed to the cooler comes from. I think you could probably take this from any 4age that has one. After that all you need to do is weld a nozzle for the oil return line somewhere high in the oilpan. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

About the 2nd Question:
Brand new 4AF(E) oil sandwich plate from the dealer is just ~30EU and can be used as bolt-on setup ! The 4AGE one is ~95EU ! |

I took a look at the pictures...it's not very likely that the rwd waterpump is still in place since the supercharger sits in the way.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the bottom water hose comes out the back of the waterpump between the engine and S/C right? I still think that installing the plumbing of an ae92 4age would be the easiest solution since that probably fits on a 4agze as well. only trouble is getting the water lines to the radiator.. You could try closing the air bypass or putting a restrictor in, it's the big hole in the bottom of the throttle body. That would stop the intake from automatically taking more air at lower temps. Running to low temperatures leads to high fuel consumtion though, so it would be nice to have a thermostat in winter.

I know that about the fuel consumption.
That's my problem... Tested car consumption, between 13 litres/100km (lowest to an RX-8 equivalent 20,5 litres per 100 km!!!!!!!!!! danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the endhttp://www.jdmbits.com |
