hey oldskull.. if you mount them, mount them with kit.
I have them mounted with nails and it look terrible (my opinion), so if you are planning to mount them with nails I say don't mount them at all and listen to Nohachi

Lol. I'm not telling him to do anything, its his car and he should do with it whatever makes him most happy.

But if you do mount them..please don't use any technique that might cause rust in the longrun. Using rivets or nails might work in sunny california, but back here rust settles in quickly.

Hmmm, I do agree with NoHachi that it disturbs the clean lines of the car, but that was already disturbed by the rewinds. These sideskirts fit the rewinds very well and now the car is more in balance again. Smile

Thats why I suggest using special body kit. Martijn talked about it to me, they use it alot at the repair shop aswell. Its a very very VERY strong sort of glue with which you can glue the sideskirts onto the body with, then you only fasten them with bolts at the ends where there are already holes. No need to drill holes into that perfect body and risk it rusting away within a few years..

And do you expect that the bodywork trapped under that hollow space is not going to rot away pretty fast as well?

NoHachi,

Not sure, I would have to ask martijn for more info about it but my gut feeling would be that you should be able to remove it with some difficulty either by using heat or using a sharp raisor. The stuff is not unlike the stuff you glue windscreens with.

Ivan, only if you glue the whole thing airtight all round and don't properly prepare the body work you glue onto. Then any moisture trapped inside will surely rot the whole thing away in time.

If the body work is painted in a proper coat of paint and you make sure the sideskirts are not closed fully in the bottom so any moisture trapped inside can sip out I don't see a reason why it would rot inside. I would fill the inside with some waxoil or similar though just to be safe and not give moisture a chance...

Thanks guys. I will see what is the good way to fix the skirts. As I said, I will fix them on the body with kit or anything that look beter until my bodywork done. Smile

@banpei: You are right, I found the skirts also fit well with rewinds. Right now I think about copy J-Blood extension for rear bumper Tongue

@Mux: yeah please I want to know about the kit too Smile

I think OEM style mounting with plastic tabs in square holes in the sills has the most potential... that way you can take the damn things off every once in a while and give everything a good clean and some extra protection.
