performance vs practicality
Which is the best type of upgraded L.S.D to use on an everyday car, I'm thinking 1.5 because a 2 will lock when trying to park etc.?

James, the hachi comes stock with a 1.5, so thats more then fine for daily use.. A 2 way will lock very quickly so it may not be for everyone when driving daily.
Best advise, find a friend that has a 2way installed and ask if you can drive it in a safe place Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Don't worry about a 2-way locking too much, there won't be 100% lock anyway (then it wouldn't be a LSD at all).

And it certainly shouldnt be locking at parking speeds. The tricky bit about 2-way lsd's is that they lock on deceleration too...which could be dangerous when it has been raining. Senna and TE71corolla are the only ones over here that have a 2-way (that I know of)..Maybe they can tell you more.

if you arent careful, and arent using throtlle blip on the downshift (i.e. heel toe) rear locks w/ standard lsd anyway.. Happened to me many times, when braking hard or quite hard. specially on wet. but i dont think it will lock up at normal driving speeds..

That's not your LSD locking, that's your whole powertrain getting locked a bit by the engine that's picking up rev's. Bit of the same as what you get by doing clutch kicks.

I have a KAAZ 2-way LSD, and I have no problems at all, just drive with very attention in the rain....
Buy a 2-way , you wont regret, at cruising speed you don't even notice it ... |

so if I want a balance between a useable safe everyday car and then the performance aspect when I want it what would you guys advise? I'll try and test a 2 way and see, thanks for the help

Hachi is an oldschool car, its rough, no electronics, just bare essentials to make a true driver happy. so you shold be careful with the car even if you dont have 2 way lsd; specially on wet surface (i've spun a couple of times not trying that hard..). |
