shocks - what to choose ?
Guy's i want to know some answers about what shocks to buy because i have an offer and i am thinking about it.

I can buy tokico illuminas for ae86 front/rear for about 500$ shipped to Slovakia.
I am thinking about to buy them. I am not sure if they are short stroke and if they are good for drifting + what springs are suit for them. I am mostly gonna use my ae86 for street driving.

I was thinking about differend brands and i know that popular are the TRD shocks and HTS from tokico but they are too pretty expensive.

Also i was thinking of purchasing just the tokico blues. But there are some people talking they are not too good. I think that means they are perhaps just like the stock.

Also there is hanging a question what about the others like Koni,Fuchs,Kyb AGX and other shocks.
Just write me some tips i would like to hear some of your suggests Smile .

The stock shocks are KYB. When i bought my hachi, i also changed the shocks, but instead of buying some fancy brand special imported, i bought KYB from Toyota. I havent regret that one second. Although i have some cheap aftermarked springs, it handles like a go-cart and its still quite comfortable Smile

shocks - what to choose ?
I plan to drive my car on streets - is there some advantage to use short stroke suspension ?

At the moment I prepared -30mm suspension using stiffer Nissan Primera H&K springs and Corolla AE92 KYB gas shocks (front), Fiat Argenta Monroe gas shocks (rear). These components are not tested on the car yet - waiting for welding & painting works.
Total cost (due Ebay and using old front strut housings): ~80EU except costs for coilover conversion.

There is so much questions about the suspension. I am interested too if its good to use short strokes on normal roads and there is also a question when i use them what springs should i put on the car. i dont think that too low clearance from ground is good. We have terrible holes on our streets. Somethimes u think ur rallying Smile
I have on my old red hachi ground clearance about 200mm. I think there are stock springs on.

for my rallies races , I use on front: Tokico/Trd blue 48511-AE891. Pretty hard and reliable , but price has raised ( bought them 3years ago for 225€/pair)
For rear , I use stock Monroe Gasmatic . I found the blue TRD too hard for rear .In rallies , you need some motricity , and that's why I use the Monroe , but for drifting , I'm sure the Trd are better .

I checked shocks on my new hachi. they are pretty hard and they are stock! I think they have rebuilded them and maked them harder. I am happy that i must not buy new right now Thumbs up! In future i want get some TRD short strokes or Tokico HTS and TRD springs.
