specifications for LSD rebuild
does any one know the tolerances for the thickness of the clutch plates acording to the toyota workshop manual?
has anybody measured the thickness of the t3 plates?
anybody know any body who has modified a plate type LSD?
are we talking adding shims in mm or 0.00mm?

could someone try and email g.tyler at T3 to find out (he ignores me)!!

so many questions!! thanks in advance for any info/links etc

when i get all the answers i will take photos write up story and post1

old post

hi guys just wondering if anyone has rebuilt their LSD here using the T3 rebuild kit. the parts are availible from toyota but the thrust washers come in different thicknesses does anyone know what tickness the T3 part are or they just the thickest ones availible?
are the tolerances between the plates that important if you want it to be uprated (ie harsher locking action)?

if anyone can help it would be much apreciated as i know many of you are undertaking the same job!

I want to rebuild my lsd as well, I'm on the waitinglist for the T3 rebuild kit, but it's taking a long time. I thought they had thicker clutch plates and not thicker thrust washers. I dont know any more about it, but I would like to learn more..so if anyone has experience rebuilding these, share!

Take some pics while your at it, we could really do with a write-up of our own. Even I can take an lsd apart and put it back together in the right order, but the whole clearance/backlash stuff that comes with it is something I dont understand very well.

I´ve heard its kinda hard to make it all fit up correctly.. And just that should be very important. The risk is, that the diff will start to make alot of ugly and scary noises after short time on the road. But if it isnt that hard afterall, i know what to do this winter Smile

I didnt mean that it would be hard to put back together again.. Just heard that if it doesent line up perfectly, the bearings will "burn" and all the work would be wasted... Sad
