4AGE Injectors resistor
I'm inches away to fire the rebuilt engine for the first time, i believe i have everything figured out, but i'm in need of some confirmation by someone who knows better this engine.
For context, the 4AGE is the 3-rib version, early bluetop with t-vis, and with AFM sensor end EGR valve. Most likely from a swiss car. As of now, the engine crank, there is compression, spark and fuel, but i believe only from the cold start injectors. Timing should be all good but i will check it again. Fuel pump is active while cranking or while opening the AFM flap. My engine wiring harness is an EU one, while all the other harness (engine bay, under dash) are Jap. When i try to start, it just cough and there is fire from the manifold (exhaust not connected for now). I've figured out it could have been some injectors issue, and i traced the wires back to understand where the problem is. Injectors are blue top, with more or less 2/2.4 ohm. I'm providing the positive 12v from the yellow wire located in the driver side fuse box, controller by a relay grounded to the chassis, so it powers on only with the key in the On/Start position. The ground is provided by the ECU with a yellow and pale green wires connected to the #10 and #20 pin. If i manually ground these pin i can hear the injectors click. While looking for the injectors wires i found that the positive feed was finishing in a round plug with 3 wires, one of them with a +12v with the key in On position. Sniffing around a lot of forums i figured out that is the resistor pack connector and, while for early blue top MAP sensored engine is not needed, apparently for AFM sensored car (like USDM), is needed. I believe my options are, form what i've seen in other discussion, source a resistor pack or use some high impedance injectors. Can someone confirm that i am down the right track and not messing everything up? |
