Map sensored factory ECU always running on 100+ octane

Szia! I have to say I'm impressed that you got 132 whp out of this setup, but this was with the HKS 272 8,1 cams installed? But with the big port head, and bigport intake manifold w/TVIS? Normal size throttle-body?

After seeing your drift-videos I think I might follow in your footsteps engine-wise (that is, not getting a redtop/smallport engine). A shame we dont't have drift-tracks up here were I live Sad Actually I lived 6 years in Pécs, but have forgotten almost all my hungarian!

Unfortunately I have the low compression (9,4:1), AFM version 4AGE, but with the 7 rib block without the oil-squirters. I guess I have the lighter version / 1st gen crank + conn.rods, so I think I'll keep those parts, but will need new pistons to increase compression ratio, helped maybe by shaving the block, and a thinner headgasket.

When you switch to ITB's (+ aftermarket EMS) will you switch to a smallport head as well, or keep the big port head?

And your exhaust guy..... could he make another batch of those headers? He could probably make some serious cash making those, if they connect easily with other cat-back systems Wink

Hello mate!

Yes my engine can do 134 whp with the following setup:
7rib block
1st gen crank, pistons, conrods
increased CR 11:1
ported&polished bigport head
HKS 272 8,1 cams +adj. cam gears
HKS valve springs
HKS oil up
lightened flywheel
TRD 4-1 header
free flow 2,5" underdiff exhaust
W/O TVIS
stock ECU
stock intake with Greddy filter

I think this is the maximum power with the stock ECU and stock throttle body and injectors, because the engine running lean. So not too healthy 160hp on crank . I'm very happy that the engine worked well on the last 3 races with lean AFR without any mechanical problems. I tried a Greddy E-manage, but it wasn't fully compatible with the bigport ECU. Sold that quickly.

I finished on the 2nd overall position in the 2nd class hungarian drifting championship with my hachi
Next year I will competite in the PRO drift league so I need to uprgade the engine.

I bought an MS-I V2.2 standalone DIY ecu like apardal and gon, and I will build my own EMS. I also bought 7MGE 315ccm high impedance injectors. And I will change to AE101 ITBs, with T3 adapter and velocity stack.
I hope this setup will good for 145-150whp 170-180 on crank.

Zoltan

Sorry, I'm getting more and more confused researching the different 4AGE's... Confused

So your starting engine was from the AE92, with a bigport/TVIS head, but 10,0:1 CR / MAP-based engine? With the 7rib block w/o oilsquirters? But you chose the lighter 11,0kg crank, 40/18mm conrods (and pistons with 18mm pins) usually used with the 3rib (pre 1987) block?

Then increased the CR to 11:1 just by shaving, or thinner headgasket?

I'm beginning to think my engine (bigport/TVIS, and AFM, 9,4:1 CR) must have the "heavier" 42/20 conrods and 11,7kg crank since I have the 7rib block......

I understand you ported and polished the bigport head... so you wouldn't consider a smallport head with your future ITB setup?? Smile

Yes, I have a 7rib block w/o oilsquirters with 11kg crank and 40/18 conrods with the 83-87 pistons (MAP version 10:1).
We increased the compression with shaving the head.

I think my config is revving better than if I have choosen the bigger parts. The only thing I know I can beat the 200-300hp BMW monsters in the league. Thumbs up!

I really don't want to change smallport head, the head is fully rebuilt and ready for the ITBs.

But keep it in your mind, my car is a driftcar, and I doesn't really matter engines long life. I don't use the car in street just only on racetracks and in a whole season I run about ~1200kms with the car.

I hope billzilla said the truth, and the stock bottom end is good for ~170hp and 8500rpm, because I will change only the bearings for TRD ones.

Hello filh!

Thank You.

Here is a guy in Hungary who can make clones of the TRD springs, but he can also make different length and strength (kg/mm) springs for racing cars. 1 set about 200-250€.

I have his e-mail address just let me know if you need.

Best Regards,
Zoltan
