Rear travel setup with Tokico HTS 102
Hi
Trying to setup rear with Tokico HTS 102. Since they are much shorter than OEM (shortest AE86 shocks AFAIK) rubber bumpstoper need to be cut. How much ? I've seen that with TRD shocks they cut only the first "piece". Sorry, don't know english so well. But picture will help: http://lh4.ggpht.com/_APKI3b0oh_A/ShAj2x...C00418.JPG This is stock (uncut) rubber pictured with maximally pulled Tokico. Travel (green) in stock form is too small, haven't really measured it but can't be above 50mm. Rear Tokico HTS 102 have travel of 145mm so with stock bumpstop only 1/3 of shock travel is used. So, does anybody know, with Tokicos, howmuch of this rubber should be cut ? First part (red), second (yellow) . or somewhere in between ? I'm affraid that if both "parts" are cut, or more, on bottomig car would kick itself with some suspension part . But, i presume there is no other way than to cut at least these two. With them both cut, there would be enough travel to use 70+ % of Tokicos travel. Thanks p.s don't say RTFM, i tried, but it is avaliable only on japanese |

Rear travel setup with Tokico HTS 102
hey man, i have cut 2 parts. I run a 4.5kg/mm spring at the back and when i did only one it still bumped when going in a deep hole or over a big bump. I was not really sure till i once putted paint underneath and drove a while... then looked and yes it was on both sides.. so i would do 2 if i were you.

Thanks!
Also, me like it answer. It looks to me too that at least two need to be cut, since there is not enough travel but i wasn't brave enough to do it right away I cutted only one today, and get bumstopped frequently, not regular driving but speedbumps and bad road road hole/bumps ...yes. I don't really know the rate of springs (aftermarket front KONI for Golf GTI Mk II feels like ~3kg/mm) but i don't need paint to diagnose bumpstop, Sound and me jumping and headpunching the roof is enough So, you don't have any problems with that much low travel ? What rims/tires do you run ? Spacers ? Did some archtuning ? It looks that if i cut second part my tire will rub inside the fenders. And i have 195/45/14 which is really low tyre. Thanks! |

Why not just unscrew the entire rubber thing, it's just fixed one with 1 bolt.
That's what i did. No Smorking AE86 |
