LOL, I actually hate cleaning cars.
The good news, I put some spark in the welder today and it fired up perfectly!! The digital display worked like a dream and there were no sparks, smokes or explosions whatsoever!! I'm very happy I must admit. So now I'm going to take it apart again and clean the outside and order the few parts that were melted or taken apart by me in order to disassemble the machine. |

Back to Impreza stuff.
Might have some new brakes too! Found a well used set of AP-Racing brakes through a friend of mine. They seem to be group-A rally brakes, or so I'm told. They're the CP3720 calipers with titanium pistons, discs are 330x28mm but they are worn so they need replacing. First I'm looking if they are worth refurbisching, checking piston damage etc. Plan is to check them over, take them apart, powdercoat them and ship 'em over to AP-Racing in the UK for reassembly. If this works I think I will have a set of very good brakes, far better than the brembo's...I hope. Already found some strange facts while examinating them closer. The calipers are different from aech other, and 3 of the 8 pistons are different, I'm looking into how far that is of importance to the braking itself. Anyway, pictures: Discs are worn but I will keep the bells and fix them up. I-phone for comparison: Pistons: Another project within the project, ohh well, got nothing better to do anyway. |

More news, the AP brakes have been sent to AP-Racing in the UK, where they will be judged and, if found fit enough, refurbished.
Also, after 4 weeks of waiting, I got an email on prices for parts for my welder. I ordered eveything.... And I finaly got my radiator, well, a mock-up anyway... Why not get started right away? So we did. The idea is to make a rad-pack like a rallycar has. Which basicly means putting the radiator, FMIC, airco condenser, fans and shrouding together in the car as one package. We had to free up some space so some cutting was done. Intercooler with radiator mock-up.: Headlight improved: Frontpanel with lamp, both reworked: We also cut away some panel for the airsuplly hose that will feed the airbox: This is how it looks from above, although the radiator and FMIC are leaning a bit to much to the front in the pic. The front panel that holds headlight should be between the two cores: Final pic: This week I'm redesigning the bumper to fit the FMIC and some other stuff. Finally some progress on the Impreza!! |

Done some bumperwork today.
To get the biggest amount of space between the radiator and engine for the shrouding the whole thing should be placed as far forwards as possible. So I got my pneumatic saw and got to it! Tommorow I will try to find a company that supplies airco radiators to specification, and look for suitable fans. Leftovers: Cutaway: Rough fitment, everything is still a bit crooked, temporarely of course. Nice gap between radiator and engine though: |

Thanks man!
Bought another 2 door chassis, so now I got proper doors, sidewindows, rubbers, etc. Put the doors in: Straightened the bumper a bit, it was crooked due to some damage: Fixed the hood: Made the grill fit with the FMIC: Made a start with the air exit for the hood: More next time! |
