If you wanna build a good blacktop, it's a good idea to change the rods.
the blacktops original rods are lightned and not very bulletproof.
they are thinner then for example the silvertop or gze rods. you can get some nice H beams rods with arp studs to make it a lot stronger.

for the broken studs i've got a superb glue. It works with a filler and a glue, you can even fill a hole with it and drill/tap it afterwards, it's pretty good stuff!
Bought it at Techno Classica. Shame you don't live close to me, otherwise i'd give you a demonstration of the stuff

At this moment I am not thinking about doing anyything on the internals of the engine, the cost on the rest of the project is already big enough.

And in the end I really want a 3SGE-eams engine anyway.

I was at the Techno classica too lol, but the difficult part is getting the broken parts out of the plastic, it's really stuck in there.

i just cut the head of a bolt and glued the rest to the broken studs
Works perfect, got me true the APK last wednesday

weird, i have fiotted the 16v bracket to my 20v engine and as far as i know it fitted like a glove.

Huh, I pulled this one of the original 16V coming out of the chassis.
Do you have any pictures of your bracket, or can you make a few perhaps?

That works, but I would like to have it removable so I'm going to try and get the brokens studs out

Hello and greetings fellow Ae86 fan.
This is absolutely amazing .
The rust you have had is worse then what i have found on my ae86 and i was thinking of throwing mine in the bin.
But after seeing this my car has nothing on the rust as apposed to this blue coupe that you are rebuilding.
Can i ask you for some high quality pics of the rear bottom end where the fuel tank is and the two chassis legs are as mine have rusted very badly where the bumper support brackets are that hold on the bumper.
Also i have some bad rust on the rear arches where the bumper mounts onto the quarter fender big in size Fist size stretches around the area from where the bolt holes for the original bumper mounts are drilled.
Now because of this i am not sure what to do maybe i will post some pics and try get some advice from people here .
