5.375 final drive ratio with stock T50
Who is running one? Comments? I have a 4.7 currently with an engine red line over 9,000 and I am finding I spend almost all the time on the track in 3rd and 4th, never hit 5th (does just over 185kph in 4th).

Its the t50, you need something closer for that sort of rpm.
Ford with different bellhousing or some gearset, those are options i consider. Btw. Some ppl, says 5.xx f drives dont last long. Does anyone knows for sure maybe? |

unless you have a 5th with 1 to 1 top, 3rd and 4th being 1to 1 will be faster than using overdrive 5th

Well I would like a close ratio TRD gearset, but the extremely high price puts me off, so was thinking the 5.375 final gear might be a bit of a band aid solution.

Huh, i've tried close ratio gearbox on racing car, nothing beats it.
Especially on such revy engine, guess you have 2000-3000 usable revs, top end, close ratio is dream come true. |

Quaife,Xtrac and tranX Ford type9 gearboxes can be found for 1000€ sometimes (used) and don't have to be too expensive newly rebuilt. That would be the cheapest way to straight cut gears and bespoke ratio's. Adapter bellhousings are 200euros or so.. Still ads up to $$$$ though unless you get lucky. The higher the final drive ratio, the more teeth you need on the crownwheel and pinion, the smaller the individual teeth get. That makes them weaker. 6.4inch crownwheels with ~3.0 ratio will last a long time even with 300+hp. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

I guess Im looking at Elite IL300 sequential boxes and they are NZD13k here, and second hand ones just dont come up... so looking for short term solutions. I was even thinking of the S15 6 speed with ikeya sequential shifter as an option.

The s15 has a long 6th. You would be better off using an IS200 as 6th is slightly shorter than 5th in the T50 I am sure that would be awesome with a shorter final drive (I'm running IS200 + 4.3).

I want a sequential shift though... and ikeya does one for the S15, which is why I was looking at that.

Its the same gearbox so I assume it could be made to work. Otherwise Leen sells a paddleshift kit for the IS200 as well
