Toyota KE70 3SGE Beams Swap - Axle reliability
Hello guys, i'm planning to swap the engine in my KE70 for a Beams, and i have an ae86 rear axle, my question is if the rear axle will hold the Beams torque/power with reliability, or is it too weak?

Depends on your driving, but I´d say not reliable. I run 141hp and break shafts all the time during drifting with a spool diff.
Might be worth you selling the stock AE86 shafts for 200€ and buy the Weir 28mm big shaft kit! They meant to do 300hp (not sure on torque...) 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

My driving will be hill climbs (tougue) and some drift occasionally...
So, the Weir big shaft kit is a possibility without swapping the axle? As anyone tried those kits? Are they good? Jorda MotorSport Keto Beams Project |

Yes, its comes as a bolt in solution, ready assembled with bearings.
You can choose between a new spool that size, or you have to send him the spidergears off your LSD (asuming its something you wanna keep) He made an early batch 30mm shafts, they were in darren Mc Namara´s AE86 and did last. New ones are 28mm. You have to check if they are avaliable, they sell pretty quick. I wanted to buy some, but they either werent avaliable or I didn´t have the money... http://www.weirperformance.com/axlekitsc...erear.html Even if it sounds expensive, think about buying a new axle, modify to fit it in an AE86 adapt brakes, propshaft, sure that´s just as expensive! And Vanette axles H100 axles weil be welded since for most of them LSD werent an option. 1979 Toyota Corolla KE35 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86 1985 Toyota Corolla AE86 |

Yeah, i would like to keep the AE86 axle, and the weir kit is a great possibility! Changing the rear axle, probably is as expensive (or even a lot more) as buying those kits.
I'll look into it! Thanks! Jorda MotorSport Keto Beams Project |

No, most like it will not hold. Mine has f20c engine, so final gear broke countless times while drifting. Shafts strangely were fine though

not saying you are ok.... BUT... the E7 chassis is about 100 kilos lighter then an AE86... and what breaks rear diffs (actually any driveline bit) is a combination of torque, and mass. Lower mass... more capable....
The Weir solid pinion spacer MAY be enough for a hillclimb car. The solid pinion spacer holds up to far more abuse then a stock crush type unit found in a stock Corolla diff. Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!! OST Porting service - http://hachiroku.net/forums/showthread.php?t=19991 |

i have done 2 hillclimb seasons with a te72 diff (zenki drum) in my ae71
car makes 141rwkw has held up fine with soft semi slicks and would imagine it will hold up into the future depends how you drive as well, but its torque that kills drivelines if you have access to a stronger diff cheaply then the extra security isnt a bad idea, but the t series should be fine http://www.ajps.com.au all things ae86 |

Put a Pajero rear axle in it, and your (very possible) problems will be gone
