OEM LSD Question

75w140 is as rare as hell in my country. best I can do is 85w90 which is used on most of our 4x4 toyota's so I can get the toyota LSD oil for that. That's what I used to run.

I think the clutches have worn off.

Looking at the pic above anyone can comment on the wear? I'm planning to order the TRD kit tonight. You think if I put it back together with the oil the sound will go down?

Sure they've got some wear, but I think that they're not worn out, and I don't think that they are a cause of any more noise/clunk/whatever then a new set would make.
I have no experience with metal clutches.
I originally thought that it had been worked on and that was the reason for the reply about new or even used friction material type clutches needing to be lubed up pre-assembly.
I do not know if all the WWW stuff about LSD additives/friction modifiers
have a clue about whether their clutches are metal-to-metal or not, but yours is the type that I sure would try out an additive/friction modifier on, even though I think that a little sound from them is just normal & part of the game.

My problem is until I went for the engine swap the s LSD was almost noise less. Now its like a mill. So let's see. I'm getting a rebuild kit I'm putting ksd back with hopefully all the debris n junk cleaned out.

I can't find 140 LSD oil so planning to go with 85w90 toyota LSD oil n hope for the best. NY orob is I'm leaving the country for a while n I want the LSD to b in good knick at least in my mind b4 u sell or loan it.

Any concerns over 85w140 valvoline? This might be obtainable.

Must have LS in name, that means limited slip.

Updatw:

Diff noise gone;

Dismantled the diff n found that someone had pur the cone springs the wrong way around reducing the pressure/5tension needed for the diff to work properly.

I'm surprised it didn't break anything.

There were 2 sets of plates on either side of the xog wheels of the diff so removed the other side and used thatnorser as a guide.

Also the myq acoustics write up came handy.

Now the diff is back to normal no noise state with a more stable tail. Now that its not making noise at all I am paranoid

I put in Valvoline 80w90 L s d oil. Seems fine for now.
