Hello everybody,

Last week, after years of searching, we (my father and I) bought a 1984 AE86 Levin Coupe (LHD). I have been into Toyota for as long as I live and stoked to have finally found the car we were looking for.

My first Corolla was an AE82 witch I build for Rallycross events in Belgium. The car was great and I was stupid to sell it. The day it left my garage the search was on for an AE86. We went to look at some cars but they were either trashed, crashed beyond repair or mutilated by a wannabe racer...

The one we bought now is in good condition. Completely stock, 160 000 km and with some rust here and there. The perfect project car!

The dashboard is re installed and the nose is reassembled. Replaced the waterpump and did a short test drive. Clutch is probably sticking, alternator doesn't work and the oil pressure sensor is leaking oil..

I ordered a XTD stage 3 clutch from ebay. Had the same one in my AE82 rallycar and after 5 years of abuse, it is still gripping strong. So it should work equally well on the AE86. It's far from a hardcore racing clutch but a perfect stock replacement, and cheap!

Time for al little update!

When we bought the car, the plan was to do the absolute necessary to get the car on the road. As usual, it's getting out of control and the car is flying apart Planning to do a full rebuild and turn it into a trackday toy.

Planning:

- Completely strip the chassis and threat al rust.
- Replacing the roof with a non sunroof model.
- Spray outside and inside
- Engine, gearbox, axles, ... all things mechanical get a standard check-up.

When this is done I would like to get MOT and register as oldtimer. That way the car is pardoned for any future MOT. And now MOT means modifying starts!

Future mods:

- Bucket seats + harness
- Bolt-in rol cage
- Technotoy handling package
- MCN bigbrake kit
- TRD diff + 4.7 pinion + XTD clutch
- Camshafts
- Exhaust

It's getting out of control!!
