How to replace the steering column UJ?

But I see no circlip or split washers…. I’m getting some fasteners zinc plated and hoped to get this done too…. Any suggestions? Thanks

The U/J is steaked in the yoke. You will have to grind the steaking out before pushing out the U/J. And "CAREFULLY" re-steak around the inside diameter after assembly. I lot a polished stainless-steel replacement joint from Flaming Rivers, for less than 50% what Toyota wanted for a replacement joint. The only difference was a set-screw lock Vs a pinch bolt.

You can also spot weld the new joint caps in place.. being carefull to cool them quickly so you dont cook the grease too much.

Thanks Dave W, I cut it off in the end. Cleaned the bores and filed off the stakes on one side of each piece. The UJ was €20 delivered and I’m getting a bucket of bolts etc. zinc plated so I’ll send the empty yoke off with them

FWIW, I just used a punch.. odds are this joint wont come loose easily.. its not spinning at prop shaft speeds after all.
