Adjusting handbrakes (+ back up light with pictures)

Hello All,

I'm new here and have already a question for my Hatchi.

I want to adjust the handbrake cable for the right side of the car. I already have a new cable on the left, but now the right side wouldn't lock? Is it possible to adjust only the rightside?

I already downloaded the 2 babies, I think the other brake cable is to long. I just want to try to fix this for thuesday. Then the RDW will check the car and I get registration papers.

Yes, I imported the car from Poland, they take all crap to Poland and I try to get back the good stuff.
They we're building the car up for Rallying but they run had no time/money to finish the project. But I will give an introduction + pictures in the new members section.

I repaired the handbrake already, I pulled out the brake pads and replaced some bolts. The previous owner didn't like the original toyota bolts in it I think :wink: .

But one more thing, the 'back up lights' (for rear driving) doesn't work on the moment, and in the manual was something about a sensor. Is it located on the gearbox itself? Or does have someone have a picture?

I think the best thing to do, is changing the cable on the right side too. They have a tendensy to be to long... My handbrake doesnt work to good either, and im pretty sure thats caused by the cables being to long

The sensor for reverse is easily swapped from outside the gearbox. Jacik the car up and you'll see it. I think its on the left side of the gearbox.

My reverse lights are also not working...I havent fixed it yet but I think it might just be a matter of putting the switch on the gearbox back in position.

Right and left handbrake cable isn't the same. Wire is the same, but outer part is longer on right side of the car.
I have the same problem, and when rebuilt rear calipers, and replace one brake cable, problem was solved.
Hand brake is working like hell. I don't need to use to much force on it, but rear wheels are blocking.

left side is a bit difrent inner cable is same lenght only the rubber is difrent the rubber from the left side is slightly longer than on the right.

You really can't adjust the damn thing its simple as locking or not you can rebuild the entire handbrake and let me tell you if you get 2 new cables its a very eazy one to use :-).

You can oil the clamps on the calipers they tend to stuck or go bad in time.
