I'm having some serious trouble getting through to Fensport

fensport can be busy but they are ok, don't forget that they add vat and delivery on top of their prices.

If you have the time you can rebuild your calipers, toyota sell the rebuild kit at around £20, there a couple of fiddly bits but i managed mine ok.

I guess it depends on how much of a hurry you are in

Unfortunately the pin in the N/S Caliper is the incorrect pin and the right hand side just isn't budging. I'm not sure whats involved in terms of rebuilding Calipers and I wouldnt have a clue where to start so I think just ordering the calipers would be the easiest solution (If Fensport would answer )

How long would you say the rebuild takes roughly?

Once i had mastered the technique on the first one, the second took no time at all, the main problem is getting the internal snap ring in place without Toyotas special tool.

You can avoid that learning curve because i can give you the tips.

What tends to happen to them is that the handbrake mechanism siezes and that stops the brake from working. I believe it is a steel pin through an aluminium housing so there is a problem with disimilar metals.

There have been a few occasions where the garage has sorted the handbrake for an MOT only for them to stop working within a couple of miles.

What number should I call Toyota on for the Re-build kit?

I called Toyota for the re-build kit, yet whats in the kit isnt substantial enough for the problem. Apparently the mountings need replacing as does one of the pins in the left caliper (it's the incorrect pin thats in there) so a whole new set of rear calipers are needed. If anyone happens to see any second hand pop up anywhere then let me know, since to get them from Toyota is going to cost me roughly £300

Yeah new they are overly expensive, you really need to get some of the scrapyard.

I have some old rusted ones in the shed but I doubt those will be of any help, probably wont get you any further then you already have. Not to mention the shipping costs

Someone must have an extra set from a spare axle? Why dont you give that guy a call that bought that racing school with 10 ae's? Maybe he's willing to part with a set....

Thats a good idea, I will have to have a word with him. I'm still remaining hopeful that someone will point out another Toyota with the same Calipers

You should give Peter Moller a shout..he had a pair of brand new ones for sale a while ago..dunno what their gonna cost shipped and all though..
