Please help !!

This is a little urgent as we are entered for a rally Saturday.
O.k, changed gearbox because I could not select 4th from 5th now guess what ? Replacement 'box won't go from 4th to 3rd, I am assured that this 'box is good.
When it was out I noticed that the clutch slave cylinder was leaking fluid, does anyone know if this could be to blame although all other gears work fine.

Could very well be the problem. The clutch doesn't fully disengage and that leaves some stress on the driveline.

if the box will go into all the other gears apart from 4th to 3rd its the box not the clutch cylinder

AE86 gearboxes are made out of plastacine, you should know that cos all the arrive alive cars had Ford boxes fitted
