My first 86 - N2 AE86 Trueno
I know I have already sort of introuced myself but thought I would re introduce myself and my new car.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have hankered after a AE86 for years and years, but I never got around to getting one. Anyway very recently I sold my Mr2 Turbo (which I had spent a small fortune on) with the intention of getting a cheaper car that I could have some fun in on tracks doing grip and drift. Hunting around on the net I came across a company called Garage Shapple and they had a N2 Trueno for sale. I loved this car at first sight but it would be another 4 months before I could even contemplate getting it. The Mr2 sold, and to my surprise the 86 was still for sale. I got in touch with a chap called Julian Alison @ Japanese Direct Imports who I know from old and he got the ball moving. I got excited when I saw the spec and more detailed photo's. The car will shortly be on its way to me and I cant wait, I think I might just piss my pants right now Actually I think I have Spec from what I know at the moment. AE86 Trueno - not crash damaged, no rust, freshly painted TRD N2 fender flares and body trim SSR Wire Mesh deep dish split rim's Coil overs Top mounts Garage Shapple front chassis triangle brace TRD 2 way LSD TRD 4 branch manifold Twin Mikuni Solex carbs (They look like they are ??) 288 cams Headwork Circuit Exhaust - unknown? MSD ignition system Fuel pressure regulator FRP vented bonnet Braided brake lines Nology hotwires 7 point rollcage Recaro SPG bucket seat Momo steering wheel Spin turn knob Camgears Stripped of gay things like carpet and sound deadening Its the first version 86 (so the lightest as well?) and its had the later spec body parts put on (Zenki or Kouki?). There may be more bits as well, the guy in japan will be getting a full spec list and translate it for me. Turns out Garage Shapple are a small but fairly well known indie AE86 tuning shop in Tokyo. http://www.shapple.co.jp/P1000213b.JPG My wagon is tucked away to the right, the Japanese guys are probably laughing about the fact that some dumbo english bloke just choked £££ for the N2 86. Think I might call it the Big Shapple, seeing as its a bit chunky looking fucker and thats the garage that built it. When it comes in I will probably enjoy it for the time being before messing. I may build a newer higher performance engine when I know whats currently fitted and how much power its chucking out. Maybe a high compression screamer? So now for an excuse to post some AE86 porn! So, how much did she set you back mate? I'm not a huge fan of the N2 body kit (makes the car look like a hamster) but i'm sure she will drive beautifully
