Why wouldn't the T50 last? It's not that much of a beast surely

You're right, I mixed myself up with engine code names.

Thats a very optimistic dynochart..picking up 14whp just like that...
Have seen some S2000's about with full exhausts and ITB's..Some picked up 10 or so crankHP (after a lot of tuning), some lost 10c-hp.. So just picking up around 20whp with just ITB's seems to me like a tad optimistic...MAYBE with racing gas and ignition timing set to make use of it.. You do get awesome sounds and an improvement in throttle response, but then the s2000 wasn't a slouch to begin with. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Darkstar Wrote:There were some plans of installing the 2ZZ in the AE86, somewhere on the west coast. On club4ag.com someody wrote that the original T50 'box bolted up without problems (without changing the bellhousing), and with some work the stock motor mounts could be used. But as usual, there were some problems with it, but they weren't that difficult to solve. I don't know if the car's running, but I suppose it would be almost flying when finished... It's a complex engine to modify (things like electric throttle), and there aren't many parts available, so I don't thing it's easy to make it go really fast. I think I read about that project on some other message board(I detest trying to do searches on club4ag..). And unfortunately the thread was locked and I couldnt find any updates to his car since I believe 02 or 03. Only thing I saw was someone building a Lotus Seven replica with a 2zz mated to a t50 tranny. His website has the picture of the metal plate he had to make to get them to fit..... As for modifying it. Man, with 180hp, with a humble exhaust note and good low end torque for daily driving.. I think 180 is just fine. Although I am kind of suprised the aftermarket for the 2zz never caught on but since toyota is still putting them into cars such as the corolla-S and now even the Lotus elise I am hoping to see more highrevving NA 2zzge screamers being raced. (even if they do get their butts kicked by the honda's..) |

Another couple of questions about the TBI dynochart..
Does a stock F20C only rev to 8000rpm? A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

No, max rpm is set at 9k. USDM F22C's from the facelifted model rev only to 8,3k...
Ahhh, VTEC. All the lag, none of the turbo. It's like waiting for bad sex. |

Thats strange then..with the revlimiter clearly kicking in at 8000rpm in the dyno above..The more strange when you consider that the various websites mention the F20C as making top power at 8300rpm with a 9000rpm redline.
Also the jump in volumetric efficiency is just amazing...usually if you have a throttle body large enough, the runners in a plenum setup flow just as wel, or better then a similar ITB setup.. Sorry but I don't trust those numbers one bit...can't argue with the sound of em though A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |
