rx7 fc brakes onto AE86
i have heard people talk of this conversion before, is it possable and what do i need and also what is involved, after spending 2 hours on knockhill today and getting lovely break fade looking to either upgrade with standard ae86 set up or change them alltogether, what are your suggestions for better stopping power

RX7 FC TURBO ii brake kit. The brackets are difrent and you will use the calipers from the fc.

Seen ae86's with this upgrade you can buy complete kits from america for around 600 dollars.

What were you running this time?

Type of front and rear pads?
Type of brake fluid?
When was the brakefluid last changed? Just before event?
Ducts present?

break fluid no idea, but i am changing it in next few days probably dot5
uprated brake rotors and pitwork pads
rears i dont know

whats a duct Dumb question

took about 40 minutes for break fade first time out, then every 20 minutes after that. breaks are still a little soft today lol

40mins untill fade sounds like pretty damn good performance to me. And that with dubious brake fluid. After you cook the brakes, the brake fluid becomes a lot worse at its job. So ideally you should change it in between sessions (just a quick flush). Brake ducts (cooling vents directing air from the front air dam to the brake callipers) also can have significant effects.

I wouldn't be so fast about discarding the stock brakes, I would think about it if the rx7 kit had:
Larger then stock discs (don't care about the callipers, clamping force of the stockers is more then sufficient. (best you can expect is more even pad wear).
Lower total unsprung weight (forget about that one is you are running heavy ass 17s)
Cheaper and/or better pad-choices.

i aint running 17" i took those off, i am running 14" celicasupra rims now
with 225/60 profile for the rears lol damn weird size if i ever saw one


i was heavy oin breaks for hairpains and at end of straight coming down from 100-110 mph to about 40mph and changing down into second as well

aprt from that wasnt using the breaks to much just light breaking heavy breaking twice per lap

just want better stopping power lol

Sounds like you got alot better then I doSmile

Took me a couple of laps on Zandvoort to get fading. But I'm pretty sure some fresh brake lines and good new brake fluid will do alot of good.. Hope they will come in soonSmile
