Knudsen,
I order them through fensport, same fenders JonT sells. They can be made to fit when you put enough effort in, they aren't that bad. But they aren't perfect either. I honestly do not see any reason to go for fiberglas anymore. The metal fenders are not much heavier. Stick to fiberglas bonnets, bootlids and such, that is where you save on weight and the fitment on those usually is much better. I think the fitment of the fenders are screwed up because the metal ones are flexible and if you take a mold while they are off the car they will always be wrong. A bootlid or bonnet is a much more solid shape and you can easily take an accurate mold from them. Apolan, I'm not gonne put a rollcage in my daily driver mate And the inside is pretty rust free expect for some problems in the boot. Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Okay, i remember that we have talked about this earlier. I think that the fenders i got, was from a newer mould than the ones you got. The guy who makes them was aware of the problem with the fitment.

Knudsen, I'm not sure if he actually got around to changing the molds. Robokill had the same fenders and also the same fitment probs allthough he solved them by making something that pushes the fenders outwards in the middle. The only problem they have, and then mainly the left fender is that they are to "flat". With metal you would simply bend it but fiberglas is to rigid and has to be forced to stay slightly bended.
Also I had some problems with the way the lights fit. My old zenki lights with black blinkers fitted pretty good, with a little bit of filler on the fenders they can be made to fit perfectly. My zenki lights with orange blinkers however gave me alot of trouble because of the extra blinker light. Bottom line, I'm much happier with my old metal fenders back on I'll leave fiberglas fenders for race cars where the fitment is less important Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Well, ill give it a shot and see if they fit somewhat okay. If not, the old ones isnt as bad os yours and can easy be salvaged.
Btw, fiberglas have another advantage other than wheight; they doesnt rust. And nomatter how well old metalfenders are fixed, they will begin to rust again. Youtube Myspace and I´ll Google your Yahoo |

You know of places that actually do that? Aside from the big manufacturers.. Even in the classic restauration buisiness the best they can do is a good 3-layer paint job.

NoHachi Wrote:Mux, you answered your own question: slightly further down the piece you quoted: No I didn't, I asked why it being a older car not designed for it matter. The Y-frame wasn't designed for it and it doesn't come out as a corkscrew. It comes out as a nice frame coated with a few micrometers of zink coating. Nice and smooth, on all surfaces. A piece of metal, whatever form, dipped into the zink solution, if I am not mistaken using electricity to bond the zink molecules to the metal, gets an even thickness coat of zink over the whole surface. Aslong as the fluid can get to any area of the frame. Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Some of you may remember that a long time ago I ordered adjustable coil overs from paradise racing and did a bad install by placing them right ontop of the stock perch. At that time I didn't have all the bits together to do a proper adjustable coil over setup.
Now a while back I got these extra set of rusty front struts and I've always wanted to turn them into proper units. Today I desided to start working on them and I removed the perch. Note that for now I'm going for a long stroke Koni adjustable setup with these so I'm not going to shorten them by 4cm as you would do with a short stroke setup. The main reason I'm doing this is that I have long stroke Koni's and I dont want to buy a short stroke setup just yet. When I have these struts ready I'll complete them with the parts that are on my car and I'll add the RCA's at that time aswell. I might then do a complete short stroke conversion on the set thats currently on my car. We'll have to see Anyways, here's the progress so far. To remove the perch I slowly cut off piece by piece with an angle grinder (thanks banpei for the lending, I still have no clue where mine is) First cuts: When I got sufficiently close I started grinding the remaining bits down with the angle grinder, this went surprisingly well and easy: I don't have a final picture yet, forgot to take it, but basically both struts now have a nice smooth surface where the perch used to be. Hopefully the coilover sleeve will fit right over. Next step is welding on some new support rings. First have to get the rings Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |
