Hi everyone! Hurray!
I am hoping to pick your brains people with regards to fitting a cwp! I recently removed the diff unit from my spare axle (bent casing) to put the TRD LSD into my new axle only to find the teeth were chipped on the cwp! (That would explain the whining then) So rather than strip my axle that is currently on the car I thought it would be a good time to invest in a lower ratio cwp to improve acceleration! The TRD LSD in my old axle looks in pretty good shape so I was hoping to pull the damaged cwp out and put the new one in! Im not sure exactly what is involved but I heard that it might have to be shimmed for backlash or something??
If anyone has any info or knowledge they could share I would really appreciate it!
Im currently having a total shell restoration and a bit of engine work to get my car ready for a rally on the 2/3rd july! Hope it gets finished in time!

The factory manual is pretty comprehensive on the whole ordeal, but to get some more general info you could have a look on http://www.ringpinion.com. they have a nice install guide that's easy to understand. You will need a bunch of special toold to get the job done.
Minimum requirement would be a bearing puller, a big torque wrench, a small beam-type torque wrench (inch-pounds, to measure rotational torque). You'll also need a dial indicator with magnetic base to set backlash.

Thanks for the info Ivan! Respect!
Had a quick read of it and it seems quite complex with all the issues highlighted! I never realised that it was necessary to 'run in'a cwp!
Maybe I will get my mate to fit mine as he does all the diffs for the local corolla boys!
Just out of interest have you had any experience with lightened flywheels as I have just bought a fidanza one but as I wont be fitting it til the car is done im really curious to know if they are any good!

Have your brother do your install for you and let him walk you through it.. take some pics and help us with making a how-to for future reference.
As far as flywheels go I havent ever driven with a non-standard one. Fidanza are pretty reputable so I guess the flywheel will be decent, I have heard bad things about their customer service when something does go wrong (only one case I know of).

Its my mate who will be fitting it so hopefully will ask can he take photos or hopefully walk me through it! He has done a few as there are a few 86's around my area which diffs he has rebuilt so he has had enough practice!
Here in the uk I compete in road rallying and know of about 10-12 ae86 corollas which compete or used to compete!
