Brakepads
Guys I am too new with this. Advice and help needed.
I bought front brakepads last week. So I had have read the manual book how to change the brakepads. But seems I am too careful with thing I never done before, so I may want to ask you guys before I do stupid thing, seem front brake are most important thing I think Do I need to buy new parts for my brakepads before I remove the old one? When I removed my rims last week I saw the parts around the brakepads are completely rust. Maybe when I removed them and they will broke as hell. So if I need new one, are they expensive and where can I get them? Thanks in advance, 1985 AE86 (ハチロク) Levin - Summer time daily driver |

A bit of rust isn't too bad: brakes are quite strong... Also imagine the disks being rusty all the time and your brakepads shaving off the rust and leaving rust particles on your brake parts. So I don't really think you should worry too much about it.
Some parts of my rear-brakes were also a tiny bit rusted: http://www.aeu86.org/Writeup/Brakesystem...index.html So if it looks like this there is nothing to worry about... If you are in doubt, just take some pictures and post them here and we can examine them. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

You dont need to take off the brake saddles (the metal things you're worried about) to change your brakepads. And it's perfectly okay if it's rusted.. it's solid steel and wont break.Only take the saddles of when you need to change the discs. When that time comes, dont try it yourself, come to mux cause some airtools are very handy.
