Where to buy bigger and better brakes?
Hey
I have just been on the track and found out, that my stock brakes isnt to good at high temperture. I have done a liltle search here on the site, but did not found anything about, where to buy some better brakes. I know T3 have a Big Brake kit, but they request 15 inch rims as minimum. I also think its a bit to big and heavy. Does anyone know where I can buy a 4 piston kit with slottet rotors witch fits a 14" rim? I dont want drillede holes. Project AE86 now begun. Cars I have owned: Toyota Starlet EP91 1,3 16v Turbo, 200hp Toyota Starlet EP71 1,3 12v Sport Mercedes 207D camper, 1977. Toyota Starlet EP70 with a 174hp Silvertop 20v See video here: http://videos.streetfire.net/search/Star...079edc.htm Toyota Corolla AE101 with a 164hp Silvertop 20v. (Evolution bodykit and candycolor paint). Volvo 240 2,1 (The only car I have maked money on). Toyota Corolla EE90 (my first car) |

Where to buy bigger and better brakes?
Jimmi , just wait few months.
I'm planning to offer ~270/257 (f/r)mm big brake kit for AE86 including brake bias valve and billet adapters for AE86 struts. These will fit (most) 14" rims ! PS: The problem of stock AE86 discs is that they are too thin (19mm fronts new). They just can't dissipate heat. Another problem is bad brake calipers - often they need rebuild.... |

Tell us more about the swap Jamie..another high priced kit that no one will buy or one of your famous budget setups? What kind of callipers and discs do you plan on running? Would be interested in a set if I cant get the ae86 setup to work. Also check out some ford sites. They have AE86 bias pedalboxes with balance bars and master cylinders of choice for 200E..pretty hard to beat.
@Jimmy...you might be dismissing your stock setup to soon.. Are you running stock pads? If so, you have to know that these were never made for these kinds of temperatures..I cannot believe how many people go to the track on stock pads and then complain about the fault being with the stock setup. Sports pads ala DS2500 are a bare minimum for track duty..anything less is playing with your life. Also try and wire in some ducting from the front of your car to the callipers. This makes more difference then you would ever expect to be possible from some simple vacuumcleaner hoses. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Uhh, I don't understand Finish, so thats why I could't find it....
I run with stocks brakepads, but not genuine ones. I knew the stock setup are to small for Track, but the trackday was just for fun and experience Upgraded brakes was already on my list, but I think its strange, that there are so few brake-kits avaible. I think I mayby will build a kit myself with some aloy Willwood 4 piston calipers and some lager discs. In fact, I have at set 4 piston calipers from a Landcruiser GX90, but I think these are too heavy. Its also difficult to find performance pads. Project AE86 now begun. You're not reading...
You don't know whether the stock setup is to small for track duty..you're just parotting all the other AE86 internet jockeys that have maybe seen a track once in their lives. But go ahead..throw more money at it before you find out exactly what the problem is, good for the economy. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

I could run my red turbo ae86 on MantorpPark, Sweden, for 45 min, with stocksize brakes, mitex 1155 and 100mm hoses from the frontbumper.
And on the straight it was hitting around 230km´t. But on the one i got now,i can´t even make one round on a small track, this is with mintex 1144,but i think i have found that it must be my front caliper, that needs to be renewed, /Skassa Any fool can go fast in a straight line.
