The Doctor Wrote:Apolan Wrote:ok so let me evolve the question a bit. Which tires are cheap but have sporty properties. I don't so much care about absolute grip, rather than firmnes and predictability. Do they have it in 175/50 13? |

i think the R888 are a little bit out of the price range
![]() i've got 4 Yokohama A048R's, but they where a 'little' bit more then 40-50 euro a tire (more like 150 each ![]() "It's all about the heart, the people who focus on parts, turbo's and all that stuff...they're just losers." -Shinji Minowa |

DJexor, yes im looking at that site but im amazed at the crappiness of options in 185/60 14 (on Slovenian site). If you clicky the little japanese flag and set summertyres for the mentioned size, you get 6 different yokohamas, various S-tires like the R888, the latest falkens, 3 diferent potenzas etc.. but in slovenia 0. The T1R are availible in 195/55 14 but are 70 eur a piece!
This are my options (of what i think are sporty tires): Nankang NS-1 - 40 eur Falken Ziex ZE-512 - 42 eur Falken Ziex ZE-912 -44 eur Toyo Proxes CF1 - 45 eur Verdestein HI-TRAC - 45 eur BF Goodrich Profiler 2 - 47 eur Kumho KH15 - 48 eur Yokohama a.drive - 48 eur Uniroyal rallye 550 - 51 eur Yokohama c.drive - 52 eur Dunlop SP Sport 01 - 54 eur Dunlop Sp Sport Fast Response - 57 eur Yokohama A460 - 58 eur Kumho ECSTA KH11 - 61 eur Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D2 - 63 eur Please note that i dont seek ultimate grip, just a very sporty/direct/responsive tire, that will last normaly and perform decently in all conditions. |

I've used the ZE-512 so far but the sidewall does flex quite a bit so I got them in 185/55 R14... I'm tempted to use Federal ss-595 next (if I can get them)
the Yoko A539 are ~62E on the slovenian site, and ss-595 ~50E try the size with /55 and you'll have a more sporty choice and less flex ![]() AE86 ex-daily |

Yes i was thinking about that, but then the radious of the wheel is smaller, and i get shorter gears, and speed o will lie. Not sure i want that? Or maybe it isnt noticeble?
EDIT: i can get Potenzas 720 in 195/60 14 for 57eur. is that a good size, or will it be to wide? The power of the car will be more or less stock (120-130 hp) and suspension just firmed up with sporty suspension. I would like a dynamic attitude, not go-cart like feeling. Should i rather go with 185/55 14? Somehow, deep down, i dont want grippy tires. I want the firmnes, responsivnes, predictability, but not kill myself trying to let the rear slide with some supergrip tyres at 150 kmh.. ![]() |
