AE86 handbrake dilema!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Guys.
o.k so ive installed an AE86 rear end into my AE85, found that when I installed the handbrake cables I was missing the last bracket that bolts to the caliper. After some searching I was able to purchase the brackets off a T series rear as they have the same calipers, but after alot of stress and trying to stretch the cables to fit have decided that these brackets are longer than what they must be on an AE86.

How you can help.

Can someone who knows the brackets im talking about and has an AE86 rear end with disc brakes in an AE86 measure the total length of the bracket and let me know what that measurement is. Measurement from the face that sits against the caliper to the outside face on the other end.

The thing I love about AE86 forums and this one in particular is that we all have the opportunity to help out like minded comrades when they come across a problem that has them stumped.
You would think that AE86 to AE85 conversion would be pretty straight forward but so many parts are different and AE86 parts are so hard to find. Not to mention expensive.

Look forward to a reply. Its gotta be good for your karma.

I think you are referring to this bracket, in the foreground?

If yes it is 29mm from outside to outside, i.e. face where it bolts to the caliper body to the face of the recess where the cable slots in.

Maximal length is 70mm which I would think fairly important to ensure proper alignment.

If you mean the bracket the clevis pin goes through that pivots against the spring, that is fractionally over 11mm face to face

You cant buy them seperately. You have to buy the whole caliper.
They are the same for both sides though so you could go to an engineering place and get them to make you another the same.
