SekiguchiUeno Wrote:Nohachi i dont want to disrespect you Hi, no worries about disrespecting anyone. I'm not 100% sure myself and wrote down some ideas to get some other opinions. Hopefully, we all learn something in the end Back to your idea: 35N seems a bit low? Do you know at which pistonspeed that is? For 86's ive only seen HTS shockdyno's and those ramped up to 300-400lbs at high pistonspeeds.. That would be closer to 1400N..even the turreted escort billsteins above are rated at 220lbs, or close to 1000N. Am I mixing something up? My intuition says: cornering introduces a force that is counteracted or "stored" in the springs. After the corner, you take away the cornering force and are left with the potential energy stored in the spring. Leave the spring and body alone, and the spring will launch the body. Pogo-ing and much laughter and joy will follow. So you slow things down by a counterforce from a damper. You're just slowing things, so the force certainly isn't equal. But I do think that the resulting force is near the force of the spring..certainly not a ratio worse then 35N vs 2000+N What do you think? Just throwing up ideas. Oh and by the way..I haven't had a miata for 2 years now  Been driving a Trueno, just like most others here. Mine is street driven on 9/7kg springs and rear coilovers. No cage, no damage to shocktowers (so far..). I'd like to keep it that way, so that explains my interest in the subject :-) A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |
