Yes that is absolutely right, but refers to a sum of many characteristics. A number of the various parts the damper is assembled from, could be the same quality (material, design tolerances etc.) couldn't they? Of course they wouldn't be identical products, but their quality would be comparable. And we are still talking about same application products, which is probably too theoretical in this case, since we don't even know the basic specs of the two dampers we are comparing.

Well, I have never seen an AGX and TRD shock on front of me in parts, so I would only be guessing as you say. But I would think there would be some non-critical parts which could be shared.
