It felt like it had almost no backlash...I felt mux's howling diff and it had much more slop in it than my old diff.
I'll still need to take a look at the innards of the lsd, see if the spider gears are in shape, I think they probably are. How can I tell if the bearings are wasted? The pinion turns pretty evenly, not frictionless, but I think that's normal for a preloaded set of bearings. No chunkyness there. The bearings on the lsd dont look too bad either, but it's hard to tell since I dont know what they are supposed to feel like. The old bearings are Koyo LM501310... same part nr as the SKF bearings I've found as a cheaper replacement. I dont have money for new bearings at the moment, but I'm considering some new carrier bearings. Cost about 80 euro's for the pair. Replacing pinion bearings, seals and crush sleeve will probably add up to another 80. Looks like I'm stuck with a noisy diff for a couple of months unless I find another job. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
