I don't know where the tacho signal comes from on a 20V. All i know is
that the AE86 tacho needs the voltage spike from the coil negative. It will not work with any kind of 5V or 12V signal that might be supplied by the ECU. Backtrack on your harness tacho wire to see where it is coming from. If it does not come from the coil, try making a temporary jumper wire from the coil negative to the tacho input wire.
